CAPREIT has an exciting remote or in office opportunity for a Vice President of Construction. Under the direction of the Chief Development and Construction Officer, the Vice President (VP) of Construction-Development is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the ground-up
development of multifamily residential projects—from initial planning through final delivery.

Base Salary is $150,000 - $200,000K per year. CAPREIT offers full-time career track positions where employees receive numerous benefits, including competitive base salary + performance-based bonuses. Responsibilities

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:


Strategic Leadership:
➢ Develop and implement construction strategy aligned with company goals, emphasizing
efficient ground-up development.
➢ Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of construction managers, project
managers, and field personnel.
➢ Collaborate with the executive team on long-term planning, acquisitions, entitlements, and
new multifamily developments.


Project Oversight:
➢ Oversee all phases of ground-up multifamily construction projects, from pre-construction
through closeout.
➢ Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, safety protocols, and quality control.
➢ Select and manage general contractors, subcontractors, and consultants.
➢ Review and interpret construction plans and specifications; coordinate effectively with
architects, engineers, and design consultants.


Budget & Cost Management:
➢ Prepare and manage capital budgets and financial forecasts for active and upcoming
projects.
➢ Monitor construction costs and implement value engineering strategies as needed.
➢ Identify and mitigate financial risks, delays, and change orders across the portfolio.


Process Improvement:
➢ Develop and enforce standardized construction procedures, best practices, and
documentation protocols.
➢ Utilize performance data to optimize operations and support continuous improvement.
Compliance & Risk Management:
➢ Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, regulations, and
environmental standards.
➢ Oversee job site safety, risk management coordination, and insurance requirements.
➢ Manage the permitting and entitlement process in collaboration with the development and
design teams.


Stakeholder Communication:
➢ Serve as the primary liaison for construction matters with internal departments, investors,
and third-party partners.
➢ Deliver clear and consistent project reporting, updates, and insights to senior leadership,
including the Chief Development and Construction Officer.
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.

· 10+ years of progressive construction management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing ground-up multifamily residential projects.

· Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale development projects on time and within budget.

· Deep understanding of construction methodologies, budgeting, scheduling, permitting, and contract negotiation.

· Proficiency in reviewing architectural and engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents.

· Experience working collaboratively with architects, engineers, and consultants.

· Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational capabilities.

· Proficiency with construction management platforms such as Procore, MS Project, and other industry-standard technologies is required.


Schedule Requirements:

Monday - Friday


Travel:

· Up to 25% travel required to project sites and regional offices.
